How to ask
- In the app, open Settings and tap Delete my account. Or email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my account", and include the phone number you use to sign in to Althena Care. Don't send anything else about your health.
- We'll confirm the request is really yours by contacting you on that phone number before anything is deleted.
- We'll tell you when it's done, within 30 days of confirming.
You can also ask your clinician to end your care with them, which stops Andrea and closes your link to their practice.
What we delete
- Your account and profile: phone number, name, date of birth and the state you told us you're in.
- Your conversations with Andrea, their summaries, and what Andrea remembers about you.
- Your mood and sleep check-ins, breathing practice and their notes.
- Your reminder settings and consent choices.
What may be kept, and why
Your clinician's practice is responsible for your health records under HIPAA, and Althena handles them for the practice as its business associate. Some records belong to the practice's medical record and may have to be kept by law.
| What | Why | For how long |
|---|---|---|
| Records your practice must keep about your care | State medical record laws that apply to your practice | As long as your practice's state requires (often 7 years or more) |
| Security and access logs (who did what and when, never what you said) | HIPAA security rules and investigating misuse | 6 years |
Anything kept is kept only for that reason, protected the same way, and deleted when the period ends. You can ask your practice for a copy of your records.
Turning off one thing instead
If you only want to stop something, such as Andrea remembering things or check-in reminders, you can turn it off in the app's Settings without deleting your account.
