Plans are billed in full each month or year, however much your patients use them. Starter is the minimum. A patient takes a place on your plan once they join; discharge them and the place is free for someone new. Need more than 50 patients? Talk to us.

What practices ask us
Is Andrea a therapist?
No. Andrea is an AI care companion that supports your patients between sessions, following your guidance. She never diagnoses, never advises on medication and always says she is an AI. Care decisions stay with you.
Who pays for Althena Care?
The practice, by card, for the plan it chooses. Patients never pay in the app.
Can I charge my clients for between-session support?
Yes, if you choose to. You set your own fee and bill your clients yourself, with their written agreement; we give you a client agreement template, an explainer and a monthly statement. Clients who say no still get your usual care. Check your insurer contracts, and get advice before charging Medicare or Medicaid patients.
Do you bill insurance?
No. Althena Care is a subscription for your practice.
Which states can patients be in?
Patients must be adults living in a state where their clinician is licensed. Althena Care isn't yet available in Illinois or Nevada.
What happens in a crisis?
When a patient says something that suggests they may be in danger, Andrea shows the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline straight away and an alert appears in your dashboard. 988 is also one tap away on every screen. Althena Care is not an emergency service.
Can colleagues in my practice use it?
Yes, at no extra cost. Your colleagues share your plan's places, and each clinician sees only their own patients.
How do we start?
Start your free trial online: confirm your email, add your practice and NPI, sign our Business Associate Agreement and choose a plan. Your card isn't charged for 7 days, and you can cancel any time in Billing before then. We check every NPI; if we need to confirm your license by hand, patients can join once we have, usually within one business day.
What does "founding practice" mean?
Our first 50 practices keep the price they started on for as long as their subscription continues. It's applied automatically when you subscribe.
